European Champion at Ironman Frankfurt

The best present for my 30th birthday I delivered myself with my first win on a long course triathlon and the Ironman European Champion title. Additionally I ran for the first time under 2:50h.

Win at Challenge Kraichgau

After I had to withdraw from the race last year due to illness, I was really looking forward to starting at my home race Challenge Kraichgau. Even I lost only a little bit more than a minute on Maurice Clavel during the swim I was not totally happy. On the hilly 90k bike course through the Kraichgau I had pretty good legs and so I came off the bike with a solid 6 minutes lead on the chasing group with Timo Bracht, Ronnie Schildknecht and Markus Fachbach. Thanks to my big lead I could slow down a bit on the last running lap to save some energy for the upcoming race at  Heilbronn City Triathlon. Finishing first in my home race was very emotional for me.

One week later I got second at Heilbronn City Triathlon. I had a really bad swim, the worst transition in my life, an ok bike leg and a really good run.

Back from US-trip

With a podium (3rd at 70.3 Oceanside) and a top-ten result at the US Pro Championships in St.George I returned to Germany.  Not what I wanted, but I’m on a good way to a really good shape for the upcoming races.
